Just before 7 a.m. a “large and extremely dangerous tornado” was located near Panama City, according to the weather service. It was moving northeast at 55 mph.
A half hour later, the National Weather Service in Tallahassee reported a tornado had crossed over the multi-state-spanning Interstate 10, southeast of Marianna.
The extent of the damage remains unclear. No injuries have yet been reported.
The first storm is expected to make its way inland on Tuesday, blanketing much of the northwest with heavy rain and snow, likely slowing traffic along the Interstate 5 corridor, including Seattle, Portland and Eugene, according to AccuWeather.
