Oops, Destiny 2’s The Dawning Created Another Monster Fusion Rifle

While the main attraction of Destiny 2’s Dawning event is supposed to be Albedo Wing, the new Aggressive Frame, arc glaive, as it turns out it may have reworked one of its oldest special weapons into something of a monster. That would be our old friend, Glacioclasm.

Sure, there are some fun Albedo rolls. I’m looking for Graverobber/Close to Melee, and I wouldn’t mind testing out Beacon Rounds. But Glacioclasm? Season of the Witch brought us the best-in-slot Eremite fusion rifle. Now Season of the Wish has brought us best-in-other-slot Scatter Signal. But here we have Glacioclasm arriving into the top tier as well. It’s also doing so in both PvP and PvE, with these rolls:

Under Pressure/High Impact Reserves is a classic combo that can map enemies with incredible stability and accuracy when used correctly, which it could roll previously. But it also has Slideshot, Killing Wind, Heating Up and Fragile Focus, if you prefer.

Then in PvE, it has the exact same combo as Scatter Signal’s god roll, Overflow/Controlled Burst. Scatter Signal may indeed be better as a rapid fire fusion, but if you want A) one in the second slot and B) a void option, Glacioclasm may be your pick instead. Though granted, unlike Eremite and Scatter Signal, it cannot be crafted so you’re at the mercy of luck to get a 5/5 roll, and you cannot have enhanced perks. Always love the disparity between random rolls and crafted guns now in Destiny! Such a great system!

Besides that, I’m not sure how many of the other weapons, Zephyr, Cold Front, Stay Frosty and Avalanche, are worth hunting for over alternatives. I already have a Cold Steel Zephyr from last year, but I think there are better swords. Don’t really care about a uh, Deconstruction or Attrition Orbs Cold Front. Subsistence Incandescent Avalanche is always fun.

But yeah, Glacioclasm and Albedo Wing are probably going to be the most interesting this time around. On the whole, I think that Dawning weapons have been better than other options from other seasonal events like Festival of the Lost and Guardian Games and Solstice, though I think it’s also the event that has given us a weapon each year the longest, so more options. Maybe Festival too, as I think Horror Story is pretty dang old.

I have already maxed out Eva on day one here, which goes pretty quickly. After that, it’s just a matter of farming presents and seeing what you get from those blue boxes.
